This one is still sealed in her original box, though there is some wear on the Bandai logo in the corner from where a price sticker was. She's only $10 and makes a perfect gift for Sailor Moon fans who grew up watching the show.

Kaori Night (or Kaolinite) doll. Kaori appears in the 3rd season of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon S. This is one of the last dolls released from the early Irwin line. Kaori Night was only made as a doll in North America, so she makes for a unique collectible. She still sealed in her original box, though there is some price sticker residue on the window. At $18 she's a great choice for any Sailor Moon Fan.

Rubeus is part of the Dark Moon clan who appeared in the second season of Sailor Moon, Sailormoon R. Rebeus only appeared in the North American toy line and is the only male doll other than Tuxedo Mask. This doll is still new and sealed in it's original box. This is a hard to find doll and at $40 would be a great gift and would make a wonderful addition to any Sailor Moon collection.

PGSM Sailor Venus Doll For Sale

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon was the Live Action reboot of Sailor Moon that ran on Japanese TV from 2003-2004. This doll was made based on the actress who played Sailor Venus Ayaka Komatsu. This line of dolls have some of the cutest face molds of any of the Sailor Moon dolls and look fabulous on display. This doll is almost complete and actually does come with her original box but it's pretty worn. For $23 she's extremely cute and would be a welcome addition to any Sailor Moon collection.

Sailor Chibimoon is a polarizing character most fans either love her or hate her with very little in between. But if you know a moonie who  loves the little pink sailor scout,  this doll is a great choice. She's got most of her original accessories and is only $18.

The Secret Life of our Sailor Moon Dolls

Have you ever wondered what your dolls are up to while you're at work or sometimes just in the next room? Well I can't speak for all dolls, but with some careful investigation we discovered that our dolls, lead active, interesting lives when they're not posing on a shelf for us. These pictures are the result.

I originally did this as a series of picture posts on twitter, they've been recollected here with a bit of additional info. In case you're wondering why there's no Sailor chibimoon and no Sailor Saturn it's because they're secret lives are so secret, even we don't know about them. (or because we don't have 6inch Japanese dolls of those two) So with that out of the way,

 

Sailor Mercury is a world renowned Star Wars Model Builder. This AT-AT model is one of her finest accomplishments.

  Sailor Venus is secretly a biker, we caught her on her way back from Sturgis.

Sailor Pluto is an accomplished equestrian, her horse is name Dusty.

 Sailor Mars is a Trekkie and spends her weekends attending Star Trek conventions, this picture marks her fourth meet and greet with Brent Spiner and Patrick Stewart.

Kino Makoto, AKA Sailor Jupiter, loves the movie Akira and started her own yearly convention.

Sailor Neptune uses intense training sessions with close personal friend Godzilla to keep her fighting edge.

Sailor Uranus Trained to be a Bounty Hunter on Spaceship Beebop in case this whole Sailor Senshi thing doesn't work out.

Usagi, AKA Sailor Moon, is really into the organic movement and grows all her own food.

And there you have it, you never know what your dolls might be up to when you're not looking.

The Sailor Moon Doll Spa

We get a lot of dolls, usually sailor moon, but occasionally others too, in the mail on a fairly regular basis. Often these dolls come to us in loved, over loved, ignored or even downright abused condition. We think that it's a shame to see those little lovelies in such a state so we treat almost every doll we receive (except the few that come to us mint) to Avane's Special doll spa.

First we disrobe them and let them soak in our solid marble pool filled with heated water drawn from Lake Superior and the finest cleansing bubbles with what the french call La shampooing des enfants. They clearly seem to enjoy being pampered:

Note the censor bars are for your protection and ours, excepting the two Setsunas and perhaps the unknown bandai blonde doll, these girls are all jailbait don't want any unpleasant accusations after all.

After a couple of hours leisurely soaking in the bubbles, we drain the pool and treat the dolls to an intensive total immersion full body steam soak, twice. This insures all dirt and debris and left over bubbles are rinsed away.

After that each doll has their faces and bodies carefully exfoliated before having their hair carefully combed and styled by one of our highly trained doll hair specialists. Great care is taken to keep hair as original and undamaged as possible, so sometimes this process can take an hour or more for just one doll. No pictures due to fear of trade secrets getting out (or because usually it's hard to take a shot of yourself combing doll hair)  During this time the previously removed clothing is soaked and then gently hand washed with Woolite in our exclusive marble wash basin (which looks strikingly similar to the main spa pool for some reason):

After each doll  and her corresponding clothing have had time to dry, the dolls are redressed, re-accessorized and re-primped for their debut to the world. As evidenced by this lovely Japanese Sailor Pluto Doll, who's now a lovely member of our collection.

Collection Update: A Work in Progress Version 2

So last month I posted that we had been spending a lot of time going through our collections and properly organizing/displaying/loving them and while we've been greatly delayed due to some family things that needed attending to we've gotten a lot of work done on our collection room. It still needs a lot of work, but we're getting there.

First up, the doorway, because well, it's a small room so even the doorway needs to be utilized to display stuff.

In this Picture is: A Mario Brothers 2 clock, The Mario Brothers TV tray, The Link Mask, A Mario Transitor Radio, Rare official Nintendo promo pixel graphics,  A vintage (though unofficial) final fantasy 7 poster,  Nintendo Power Backpack with Mario and link (there's also a matching folding inside), Metal Gear 2 complete set of McFarlane figures, Kyo plush from Fruits basket, a unicorn puffkin, Some random unicorns plushies, a stuffed octopus and Matel Legend figure set of Matel and Emeraldas. Off to the left side you can see the first shelf which I'll be describing next.





Now on to the first Shelf MWA HA HA HA!

Collection Update: A Work in Progress

Haven't done a collection update (or much of anything else in a long while. Mostly because we've been pulling our old geeky stuff out of storage and sorting through it. It's a work in progress.

So far it's gone from making things that look like this:

 

Into things that look more like this:

 This is a large portion of our sailor moon collection. Though still not all of it.Of particular interest to other collectors is probably the Moon House, Our full set of Irwin pretty face dolls including super moon and Saturn, The lovely German Queen Beryl, Dancing Princess Serenity, Dream Pocket Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Eternal Sailor Moon, A super rare Furoku bag of Usagi as Mermaid (currently holding sailor moon wrapping paper), and a music playing crisis locket. We've got a whole host of other stuff including some really weird things including a inflatable ring, a travel toothbrush set and an omelet maker. But if I cataloged it all I could be here for hours (and that's still not all of it).

And into things that look like this:

This is much more multifandom, but with a heavy emphasis on vintage Mario. Of particular interest in this picture is probably: The rare 1-up mushroom Japanese coin bank, The Mario Kart Phone, The Mario Puppet Cooler, an almost complete set of Japanese Pepsi Mario Brothers caps, and naturally more sailor moon stuff (it's everywhere!) including a materials artbook.  In addition that that there's a bunch of diecast X-men figures, some sonic the hedgehog stuff, more Pokemon than you can shake a stick and other geeky stuff we like(which is a lot).





And to a slightly Lesser extent, we've been making things that look like This:

We clearly can't be allowed to have figures. I mean sure it's hilarious that Picard and Warf are sharing a dance in front of a video game convention. But things are clearly gonna turn ugly as soon as Godzilla tries to cut in for the next dance. And you can't see it in that picture, but a little ways away Dr. Crusher has Stolen Epona and the master Sword, which can't be good for Hyrule.

Like I said before, it's been a work in progress. We've gone through 9 bins of our stuff, and there's still some more we haven't touched. So it's going to be awhile, but we're both looking forward to proudly displaying our years of wasted money, awesome collections of nerdy stuff.

Oh and by the way, the room that houses our collection is also our guest room. So if you ever have occasion to visit, you know what you're in for. ;)
