A quick tip for buying comics from us, the shopping cart doesn't calculate shipping for them correctly because of how we have to set them individually. If you want a bunch of comics submit your order, but DO NOT PAY. Send me an email instead and let me know you've submitted an order and I'll reinvoice you for the correct shipping amount even if you bought every comic on the site, the shipping would never be more than $7 and most of the time it's going to be less than $5.





We've got some rare issues like the Super hard to find issue #32 with the gorgeous Sailor Saturn cover. We searched for months to find just this issue for our collection of comics. Because it's so hard to find we have it priced at $10 but it would be $7.30 with the discount!

Written by horror master Junji Ito, it tells the story of a young girl living in a town descending into madness and terror. I can't say much else without ruining the plot, but it's a classic. This is just the first volume, but it's got more than enough story to let you know if you want to keep reading. It's got great old school art and solid writing. We own and have read the entire series and can highly suggest it to anyone interested in the genre. (I'll be attempting to write a review of it later this month)

The detail in this figure is phenomenal as you'd expect from McFarlane. I'm using the stock image, because he's hard to see in his package, but he does come with the hanging chains, rats and bats. It's hard to imagine in our current vampire crazed, Twilight loving society, but vampires haven't always been sexy and pretty. They were seen as animalastic, bloodthirsty horrifying monsters and Mcfarlane did a fantastic job of depicting it with this figure.

Collection update, more thrift finds!

I probably don't have to say this again, but I will, we love thrifting. The majority of things we're interested in adding to our collections is 10 years old or more, which means in the minds of many people, junk. So we're often finding all sorts of tossed out goodies. My favorite find was probably this coleco pac-man mini arcade still in the original box with original price tag. and still working for $5. I'm too lazy to take pictures of it right now, but I assure you it is an awesome thing. We've got all sorts of good stuff over the years that way and maybe if I ever get around to it, I'll post pictures of some of our older collections.

In the meantime, here's what we scored recently at our local thrift stores:

Tomb Raider III Lara figure in wet suit, her box is pretty beaten up, but as we haven't decided whether or not we're going to keep her because she's not in her normal outfit.
Two NES Control Pads in fantastic working condition, practically mint and only $1 each!

Carmen Sandiego's Think quick
The super Nova of light is Carmen Sandiego's word detective a cereal box game or I'd not have bought it without an original case, but I love Carmen Sandiego games(as I'm sure is obvious from my last retro review) so I had to get it too.
Hard to see, but over the top of the PC games is an Original Mario Brothers Game Watch, it needs a new battery, but looks like it should work just fine once we grab one. Woot!

All that stuff cost us around $25 including tax, but the joy all that useless old junk brings us is truly priceless. :)

Wings of Redemption Spawn (series 32) and June's coupon code

One of my larger collections and one I don't think I've really discussed in this blog before is action figures. I will collect figures from any show/comic/movie/whatever if they're interesting looking. I especially love the super detailed highly articulated figures which means I end up with a lot of Mcfarlane figures, thus a lot of Spawn figures. However, If I tried to collect ALL the mcfarlane figures or even just ALL the spawn figures, I'd be completely broke all the time and have absolutely no space in the house. So, I try to keep some sort of focus, I try to only collect spawn figures with wings and repaints of The Heap. All sorts of other figures sneak in there as well, but those are what my primary McFarlane figure collection consists of and the ones I break out of the box immediately as I want to enjoy them. My latest addition is to my favorite, the wings of redemption series. The wings of redemption figures are based on the cover of issue #77 it shows spawn with a mighty pair of white feather angel wings. The first figure was released in series 21 and has had a couple of subsequent repaints and re-releases. My latest edition is the most recent one from series 34. This one feature a much more dynamic pose than the first, though it does not at all resemble the cover. The detail is the sort I've come to expect from a Mcfarlane figure, I am especially fond of the detail on each individual feather in the outstretched wings. I am however disappointed to note that this would be better called a plastic statute then an action figure. There are only 4 points of articulation none of which are particularly useful for changing the look. I realize I can't expect too much articulation as the pose isn't really intended for it,especially as he rather delicately hovers over the base(not shown in in my pictures) as is. but I really did expect to be able to do a little more with it. Also of note is that this one is much smaller than the other WOR spawns (barring the 3" trading versions). Overall this is gorgeous figure and while not as popular among collectors as the other WOR figures, it is a truly beautiful figure well worth the purchase price. One note though, this figure should be taken out of the package to be truly enjoyed. I've never been one to keep my figures in packages anyway, but I understand collectors wanting to keep everything completely mint. However this one looks like practically nothing in the package, it's well worth breaking the factory sealing for.

Next up, I set up the store coupon code for June: JuneBlog it will get you 17% off any order over $1 :) And I recently updated some fun things to use it on. The most interesting thing is probably A complete import copy of Kirby's Dreamland 2 (which has incredibly adorable box art!). I love that the gameboy and the DS are region free and use that to collect quite a few import titles that are either otherwise available in the states or when I just enjoy the import box art more. We're planning on a mid June vacation so we'll be adding loads more soon to help add to our trip funds so if you don't see something interesting now you might see something interesting next week.
